I feel like I'm an old man living out upon a mountain who's just been given a thousand years to roam but never gets to see your face or feel your sweet enchantment 'cause he could never stray too far from home I feel like I'm a fisherman, lost upon the water who never gets to see his love again 'cause his true one is waiting for where he will never wander 'cause he was born to different countrymen So don't forget me when you go across the ocean no matter what you intend to see there's no one left now to control those wild devotions and keep you next in line for me, for me.... I feel like a Victorian dirty with my inventions on the verge of some great discovery only to know that true-be-told I'll never live to see my intentions come to life, but that's better can't you see? So please forgive me when you search upon the mountain and don't find any sign of me I've gone and taken from the waters of the fountain so you should see what I could be So don't forget me when you go across the ocean no matter what you intend to see there's no one left now to control those wild devotions and keep you next in line for me, for me, for me...

That's right, that's right, you can revel in your youth you can stay out all night, you can do what you do but you can't fool me, cause I know you don't know what you say you know That's right, that's right, you can say what you want you can put up a fight, you can stare at the sun but you can't fool me, cause I know you're not who you say you are When it's time, you put on a strong face When it's right, you'll be at the wrong place If you were mine, I'd send you a warning but your ship sailed at night, when I was mooring we both know what it's about.... (solo) Look here, look here when you say you don't know could it be that it appears that you're thinking too slow? And you can't hold back and you have no filter for the words you say I know, I know, you don't mean what you say but you can't make sense contradicting this way cause you're confusing yourself and you're making it hard to hear a word you say When you want, you'll put on your game face but your crime is not that you'll lose the race we both know this is all just a rally from your life, which is all up-side-down we both know, what it's about, aren't you glad I found out? We both know it's a game, but we're tired of playing put it down, look around, see the sadness about we both know what it's about....

I had a plan, it was revealed it took it's form out in the fields and in the dark of covered place we sang and thought of love's true face We're still holding on To words of a song has it been so long? Are we too far gone? The timid leaves and swaying branch were brought by breeze into their hands a faded cry out in the wind we were condemned to living in ...and we ran around singing along adoring a sound and loving a song We're still holding on To words of a song has it been so long? Are we too far gone? How dare we run away now from what we truly are? We came from Montesano with dreams still in our hearts we're made of what we're made of of metal, wood, and rain we came from Montesano from her we learned to sing We may've not always spoken but that it is well our hearts that have been broken will stand and live to tell...

Damn these leaves keep blowing on the ground damn this fire keeps smoldering and won't go out and you're often on my mind but you're continents away this time but not for long.... there's an animal inside my heart and it's too primal to know why we should be apart daylight comes and then it's gone shines it's light on things for me, but not for long but not for long.... don't be bitter, nothing last forever please be patient, heed these ruminations here's an article of faith you see now I don't believe a word you say about you and me still, you're often on my mind though the consequences change with time If our youth is coming to an end take my hand and walk with me we'll go to it and then I'll go first and you will see if you choose to stay at least then I'll be free but not for long....
6.
You can say anything you want but I can see written on your face those folks you've been seeing are not given to see you this way That everything you have you've got by sticking your tongue out to taste but sooner or later your senses are shot and now their just part of your face Yeah, you're like a girl, but you're not you've been given too much with your age but you got distracted by the things that you've sought and now you're just drifting away before I can leave I must stay my weapons of silence are frozen so I must now speak what I say and stand in the place that I've chosen You're ready to change, you won't be here again for a long time so you better make the most of feeling this way Before you move on you must pray your roster of players is stable so you can tell all the next day and do it again when you're able And one more thing before I bugger off I don't care how you move forward just think of me once and then turn back the clock that's counting the clicks til' you get bored You're ready to change, but you will be here again in a moment but you better make the most of feeling this way You're ready to break, but you won't cause' you're gonna lay your head on my shoulder and we can pretend you love me enough to let me take the pain away

I starting bleeding, you stuck me with knives I began pleading, with words I contrived to keep you from turning the blade north and south, side to side if only to satisfy the story that you and I have about committing such crimes Pictures of Angels, they wear a disguise I saw through the mask hole, right down to their eyes they wore expressions, betraying their calm and when I looked closer, they weren't angels at all They were women and children and men who were willing to accompany me in the quiet so importantly dressed in what normally creatures of heaven would don for the night They were waiting and seeing if I would go screaming away from what they knew were lies and I couldn't help feeling resentful for all that they tried! Solo/instr. You were holding my shoulders beneath murky waters above which I imagine your smile so I make up that you will soon wake up and think that I shouldn't have taken that mile from the road you were traveling while you were unraveling yourself from your tangled up lives And I can't the feeling you're going to regret all this time... Pictures of Angels, they wear a disguise I saw through the mask hole, right down to their eyes

Weeping Wail 04:16
Dare I tell you of the many places that I've been? you wouldn't have the stomach for the tale And if I had an album full of everything I've seen the blood would leave your face and you'd turn pale There may be things that help you forge a path and find your place and I have a belief or two to spare but many of the things upon which I have placed my faith I woke one day to reason weren't there Cause I've caught fortune by the claws and all those waterfalls that I've been down, don't mean a thing And I've got fate now in my grasp and though my voice is raspy I can't hold this weeping wail (Bridge/solo) If my life is almost over and my days are almost gone then it won't seem inappropriate to say that in every single moment and in everything I've done I'm weeping for the love I've pushed away Cause I've caught fortune by the claws and all those waterfalls that I've been down don't mean a thing And I've got fate now in my grasp and though my voice is raspy I can't hold this weeping wail Cause I've got destiny by the tail and though I'm old and frail I can't control this weeping wail

Brace for the changes taking place you can run but you could never stay away Hey, we decay in stages way in the basement where you were too afraid to play

about

In the Spring of 2013 Northwest alternative rock journeyman Peter Benjamin offered his second full-length album 'The Victorian,' a bold and mature follow-up to his 2009 solo debut For Your Enjoyment & Leisure.

His richly lyrical and melody-driven 70's folk rock-infused eclecticism invokes such contemporary artists as Beck, Jack White, John Mayer, and Ryan Adams, as well as the more alternative sounds of Tom Waits, Feist, and Ray La Montaigne. Benjamin also owes much of his songwriting style to the pop sensibilities of prolific and iconic tunesmiths like Sting, Billy Joel, and Phill Collins, who's melodic infectiousness provided much of the soundtrack to his early musically formative years.

In the early 2000's, Peter co-founded Seattle-based post alternative group Edisyn, who enjoyed status as Seattle club scene staple for the better part of the last decade. Edisyn authored three acclaimed releases to a notoriously fickle Seattle original music scene before parting ways.

Benjamin now brings his own relentlessly independent musical voice to a wide range of audiences all over the Northwest U.S. including all ages festivals, clubs, and special events, etc., carefully crafting his program material to each event.
