I starting bleeding, you stuck me with knives
I began pleading, with words I contrived
to keep you from turning the blade
north and south, side to side
if only to satisfy the story that you and I
have about committing such crimes

Pictures of Angels, they wear a disguise
I saw through the mask hole, right down to their eyes
they wore expressions, betraying their calm
and when I looked closer, they weren't angels at all

They were women and children and
men who were willing
to accompany me in the quiet
so importantly dressed in what normally
creatures of heaven would don for the night
They were waiting and seeing
if I would go screaming
away from what they knew were lies
and I couldn't help feeling resentful
for all that they tried!
